Dan Dmith/Combat went to Concord, California and captured the Mike Davis Memorial Softball tournament. They went udefeated with a 4-0 mark. Their road to victory went like this. They beat Silva's Monavie 24-8, then they duplicated that score wih a 24-8 win over Spider Pigs from Orange, Cal. They then defeated C-Town 16-6 before beating Canes/Worth Softball from Phoenix in the winners bracket final 28-2. C-Town was coming out of the losers bracket to play Dan Smith again but had to catch flights.. Dal Beggs was named MVP, while Jeff McGavin was the defensive award winner while Antonio Mack from C-Town was the offensive player of the 30 team USSSA onference tournament.
At the Music City Classic, Jean Shoppe/Easton also went undefeated with an 4-0 mark as well. Shoppe's road to victory saw them beat Pro Built Homes 18-0, then 365 Fitness 24-9, Taylormade/Floyd 27-12, RBK Suncoast 34-22. GTL/Creative Stucco was getting ready to play RBK/Suncoast in the losers bracket when the rain came down. Tournament directors called the tourney and awarded Jean Shoppe the championship trophy as they were still undefeated at the time. Ageless Todd Joerling was tabbed for the MVP award while J.C. Phelps (GTL/Creative Stucco) and Jeremy Isenhower(RBK/Suncoast) were named Co-Offensive players. Sean McDonald from Shoppe took home the defensive award. Congrats to Jean Shoppe.

My daughter Amanda is finished with her second year at Cleveland State. They had a very successful year as they won the Horizon League championship for the first time in the schools history. Amanda once again had a stellar year as she was tabbed for the Pitcher of the Year in the league. She finished out the season with a 26-14 record. She tied her own record with 26 wins in a season. She was named To All-Great Lakes Region Team. Amanda and head coach Angie Nicholson are looking for big things for next year.
